Of course all this danger-girl activity leads to some tumbles and bumps and as it turns out, Wren is a total drama queen. No booboo, real or imagined, is too minor for a kiss from mom or dad. She spent a whole week pointing out the same one scab on her toe and demanding that I kiss it. Mmmmmm, baby Croc stankfoot. Bruce mostly gets pretend finger injuries, the lucky jerk.
She is still nursing occasionally although there hasn't been any full backslide into breastfeeding. She's on a once every three days-ish kind of schedule now. A few times, she's clawed at my neck and chest while wailing (but not asking for bbbp bbbps specifically) and was successfully distracted with a banana. Wren still loves her some bananas.
Likes other than bananas: Her pets, watching the fish, staring at her reflection in the picture window, beverages, junk food, playing games with Calder, messing up whatever it is Calder is doing, putting stuff on her head, chewing candle wax and playing in the yard.
Dislikes: Not having bananas, diaper changes taking longer than 15 seconds, having her face cleaned, being ignored, book pages that stick together and people who don't give toddlers popsicles.
Mastered Skills (most kids can do):
Plays with ball - Wren loves to play bahlbahl. Throwing them to, at, away. Don't matter. In a net or at a person, all are loved, loved, loved but making the dog chase tennis balls is her absolute fav. Uses three words regularly - Yes but not too much more than that. Bahlbahl, Mama, Dada, Na!Na!, buh bah (bye bye) and gaht (cat) are pretty much it.
Walks backward - She'd moonwalk if anyone in this family had the skillz to teach her.
Emerging Skills (half of kids can do):
Scribbles with a crayon - All writing implements are currently on lockdown though thankfully her favorite art medium seems to be ink on skin.Runs - I heart toddler drunk running.
Adopts "no" as his favorite word - She doesn't say no but she does shake her head when you ask her a question. Any question. Unless it's "what do you want?" Then the answer is Na!Na! NANANANANANANANANANA!
Advanced Skills (a few kids can do):
"Helps" around the house - Both of my kids are weirdly obsessed with the Swiffer line of products. I do nothing to dissuade them from this.
Puts his fingers to his mouth and says "shhh" - Oh! New fun game. Wren makes an ear-bleeding noise, shushes herself and then laughs like a maniac. It is So. Much. Fun. Yesitis.
